LANDLORD AND TENANT BOARD
Tribunal that falls under the Social Justice Tribunals Ontario (SJTO). Landlord and Tenant board is where landlord and tenant disputes are resolved through mediation and/or hearing. Landlord and Tenant responsibilities and rights are regulated through the Residential Tenancy Act.
There are specific forms that has to be served if you are a landlord and different forms required if you are a tenant. There are specific timelines and supporting documents that are required before filing with the tribunal. The Landlord and Tenant Board has rules and practice directions that has to be followed throughout the process. There are four common orders that the Landlord and Tenant board may issue, an ex parte order, hearing order, and consent order and/or interim order. Having a legal representative will help you navigate the steps that would be suitable to your situation.
